Active Athlete buys GolfBuzz
I am rubbish at golf (except on the Wii). Distance is Ok but my navigation system is naff. I am more of a Tigger than a Tiger. Makes for a long, long walk. So Active Athlete’s acquisition of Golfbuzz means diddly squat to me but for all you enthusiasts and sports advertisers out there, here is the gist of it.
Active Athlete, Inc., an online media company that connects advertisers with sports enthusiasts, announced it has acquired GolfBuzz, Inc., the developers of innovative publishing tools and technologies dedicated to the golf community. Active Athlete plans to extend the GolfBuzz technology across all of its sports channels, enabling publishers and brands to more easily connect their audience with other like-minded people, desirable information on their passion, and associated products and services.

The acquisition of GolfBuzz is part of Active Athlete’s strategy to bring its more than 180 sports-specific publishers and brand advertisers a complete set of solutions that will help grow loyalty, and further engage their digital audience.
“This is a significant milestone in our company’s relatively short history,” said Robert Tas, CEO of Active Athlete. “By acquiring GolfBuzz, we combine our proven online advertising expertise with a solid technology platform, giving our publishers and brands even more ways to connect with-and grow-their online communities.”
GolfBuzz’s technology will further enable Active Athlete’s publishers and brands to bring together people via community functionality (Personal Profiles, My Courses, GameTracker, Messaging, Friends, Blogs, Forums and Photo management), information via built-in discovery utilities (Course Finder, Course Comparison, Course Reviews, Point-to-Point Driving Directions) and products and services via widgets, classified engines and more.
