Colibria Launches Contextual Message Vision
Colibria, a provider of mobile instant messaging (MIM) and Presence-enabled solutions, has announced new products and partnerships to support its evolved vision for mobile messaging - a ‘Contextual Messaging’ model.
“The success of social networking and video sharing sites are clear indicators of the consumers desire to communicate between groups of people and share contextual information in a more interactive format,” comments Matt Hooper, EVP Marketing at Colibria. “By combining MIM and Presence-enabled services with a variety of new and existing applications, Contextual Messaging enables the telecoms industry to serve, fuel and support the consumer demand for greater levels of interactivity and personal expression.”
Cutting through the marketing BS, the company is moving towards a messaging model that can take into account social presence, mood and location of contacts.
Colibria is showcasing a number of innovative new products and solutions at Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona, to support the growth of Contextual Messaging (Stand 1H49, Hall 1) including:
- Colibria Evolve™: The latest iteration of the world’s most advanced, modular solution for the successful deployment, expansion and evolution of MIM services.
- Colibria Essence™: Colibria’s visionary concept client showcase which marries Presence information, widgetized mobile content and MIM in a new generation home screen. The integration of buddy lists, along with compelling content-based services, provides a glimpse of where the MIM market could be headed.
- IM user experience and enhancement tools: Colibria’s ‘Client SDK’ enables MIM to be deployed onto handsets more effectively than ever before, while the Colibria Image Transcoder automatically ensures that MIM photoshare files are optimally rendered for an enhanced user experience.
In addition, new partnerships to drive mobile & Presence market innovation:
- CounterPath, a leading provider of innovative desktop and mobile VoIP software solutions, is partnering with Colibria to fully enable the Presence capabilities of CounterPath’s multimedia VoIP applications.
- Movius (Previously IP Unity-Glenayre) and Colibria are partnering to drive new generation messaging solutions to a wider audience in a global agreement.
“Mobile services must now evolve to meet the changing demands of consumers, many of whom want to use their mobile as the default tool for organising and managing their private and public communication groups or networks,” comments Luke Thomas, Lead Analyst, Mobile & Wireless at Frost and Sullivan.
Colibria already has over 30 operator customers worldwide and provided the first mobile operator IM interconnects in Asia and Europe.
