I don’t know about you but with 200 TV channels to go at I can’t find anything to watch most nights. It the usual story - soaps, reality TV (is there such a thing?), quiz shows, depress-u-dramas and third rate made-for-tv movies. So I increasingly turn to the web for my entertainment. As more and more deals are done I find I can watch some pretty interesting stuff, usually music or comedy centric shows or video clips. It is with a warm (well- tepid) heart that I report that MTV Networks has cut several online syndication deals with web sites.
MTV will supply short-form content to Veoh, GoFish, imeem, MeeVee and Dailymotion. These deals augment existing arrangements with AOL, Joost, MSN, Bebo and Comcat’s Fancast.

KushTV, the high definition broadband and lifestyle network, announced a partnership with Contrafilm to help distribute and develop the best content on KushTV.com and the KushTV syndication network. The partnership will allow KushTV to distribute original content from the production company and in the same token provide Contrafilm with a medium to break new actors, directors and writers.
In the wake of the recent writers’ strike, the world of television and original programming has been threatened in an instant. With late night shows being immediately affected and network primetime programs looking to be affected in January and February, there is little left to the imagination of whom else may be sucked into the downward spiral; Contrafilm is not taking any chances.
Contrafilm’s Beau Flynn will be admitted to KushTV’s advisory board. This will allow KushTV to move forward from their highly trafficked webisodic content into producing original shorts and features for the online network and then possibly extend that content into more traditional Hollywood formats.

ROK Entertainment Group, the UK-based mobile technologies, applications and entertainment development company has acquired a 51% controlling interest in Los Angeles-based Fun Little Movies (FLM) for a combination of cash to be paid in monthly installments through September 2009 and shares in the company. Under the terms of the agreement, ROK and FLM will jointly offer made-for-mobile content, such as comedy short films, to network operators worldwide.
FLM specializes in the development, production and distribution of original mobile-oriented comedy for global distribution. In its nomination for Best Video Producer at the 2007 ME Awards, Mobile Entertainment Magazine said FLM “pioneered the advertiser-funded concept” for mobile video.

FLM distribution deals include Sprint, Verizon and ATT, as well as several handset makers and overseas partners, from China and Japan to Europe, Africa and South America. ROK will be its primary distributor worldwide. [Read more]
